Why Dieting Doesn't Work

Dieting is a bad word.  I hate it.  Eating healthy is a lifestyle.  I also tell people this when they say, "You look great! What diet are you on?" Ugh. Please stop.  I make a conscious effort to make good food choices. Every day is a struggle.  I love food, but I have to put down the cookie and pick up the apple.  I add peanut butter if I want to get crazy.  Drink lots of water. Just remember behind every healthy person there is a lot going on that you may not be aware of.  Trying to eat healthy is work.  The hardest work I have ever done. Period.

I wake up every morning and have to tell myself not to stop at the store and get that donut.  Make the smoothie.  I remind myself of how far I have come and what I have to do to stay here.  Some people eat whatever they want and don't gain a pound.  Well...that is not me.  I make one bad choice and BOOM!  I gain two pounds.  Not much, you say? Well two leads to four and that leads to ten.  For the masses two pounds is a big deal for those of us who have to work at it every day.  I do enjoy a cheat meal now and then.  I don't deprive myself.  I would go crazy.  Coffee alone won't keep me from losing my mind completely.
I did cut out sugars and bad carbs.  Sugar plus carbs equal fat.  So pick one or the other if you must, but not both.  Bad choice.  I love myself, and I don't want to go back that THAT girl.  I was fat.  I own it.  Quit making excuses.  We all do. I did. We all have to have that, "AHA!" moment when we say enough is enough...I don't want to be fat anymore.  I am not a fat shamer by any means.  I think you should love yourself no matter what.   Fat is not healthy.  It leads to a plethora of health problems, so let's just leave it at that.

I did the work and you can reap the benefits. Every journey starts somewhere, so why not start here?
I leave you today with this tip:
To start, cut out all the sugars.  Sugar is bad.  I use TruVia as it is a natural alternative and much sweeter than sugar anyway. Cold turkey- put down the donut, the cookie, the brownie.  Sugar is everywhere. People bring goodies to the work place. It is every where we look.  Don't do it.  Just walk away.  When you do, you will feel so much stronger.  In control.  That makes you awesome! You are in the fight.
Healthy living is a torment when convenience is king and there are temptations everywhere. You don't have to be that person. You can be strong. AS mom, it is tempting to finish those bites so as not to waste them. "A few bites won't hurt." That is what you tell yourself.  That is untrue. The second it goes in your body starts to process that.  It is still an unknown territory to most people.  Baby steps people, baby steps.
